Module 8: Preventing Relapse and Maintaining Progress

1) Module Aim
This module introduces students to relapse prevention and long-term wellbeing maintenance using Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) principles. Students will learn how to recognise early warning signs of emotional difficulties, strengthen healthy coping strategies, maintain progress over time, and respond constructively to setbacks.
2) Learning Outcomes
By the end of the module, learners will be able to:
- Explain the meaning of relapse prevention and why setbacks are a normal part of change.
- Identify personal warning signs that may indicate increasing stress or emotional difficulties.
- Recognise protective factors and coping strategies that support long-term wellbeing.
- Develop a personalised relapse prevention and self-care plan.
- Apply CBT strategies to respond constructively to setbacks and maintain progress over time.
