Activity 2 – Activity Planning Exercise

In this activity, learners practise applying behavioural activation principles by creating a simple activity plan for the coming days.

Students are invited to choose one academic task they have been postponing, such as starting an assignment, studying for an exam, or organising study materials.

Learners then break the task into smaller and more manageable steps that can be completed in short periods of time.

For example:

Task: Prepare for an upcoming exam

Small steps may include:

  • Reviewing lecture notes for 20 minutes
  • Creating a short summary of key concepts
  • Completing two practice questions

Students then create a simple activity plan, scheduling one or two realistic activities they can complete during the next few days.

The aim of this activity is to help learners practise setting small, achievable goals, which can increase motivation and reduce procrastination.
